I was forced to abandon my Nokia Lumia 1520 Windows Phone today for lack of adequate application support. I really did like the phone… the simple interface with my Windows PC, the quality of the camera, the wireless charging, the ability to wirelessly broadcast to my 4K Smart TV, and the simply amazing screen. However, aside from the fact that the OS is uglier than a Post-It-Note covered fridge door… wide spread application support has still not materialized for this mobile market bottom feeder. I just recently tried to leverage my Windows Phone to take on the role of my primary business phone. Oh, mistake. The last straw was when my local bank confirmed that they had no plans to create a Windows Phone app for their mobile banking experience (Android and iPhone apps already exist). Additionally, the credit card reader application for the Windows Phone is so ridiculously expensive, that it should just be called the “how to bleed a business” app. So, I went from my bank straight over to the Apple Store and paid outright for an iPhone 6+ to use as my business only phone. I am now able to finally use my mobile phone to interact with my bank – which is a rather critical business function. I also now have full social media app support as well as FPV support for my DJI Phantom. My Windows Phone has now been permanently relegated to desk drawer while I wait out the last year of my two year contract. I should mention too that the financial investments (in both phones) has been so significant… that I realistically cannot simply or readily be lured back to Windows any time soon. This is now the third Apple product that I have purchased in the past six months. What is going on Microsoft? Apple 3; Microsoft 0.
Lack of Application Support Kills My Windows Phone
